January 4, 2017 An undetermined amount of oil appears to have washed off the bridge contractor’s barge on December 24th due to the heavy rains. J. Sanders Construction and the USCG were immediately notified as was York County following the holiday. Lynn Maltinsky met with county officials and an independent company to take water samples on January 3rd. They tested for petroleum, diesel and gas. All came up clear. (PDF) Thanks to those community members who helped on Christmas Eve and sent images and video to provide to the county. (1/4/2017)

November 10, 2016 Received from the county the latest readings from the monitors in the dam. So far there has been very little movement in the dam as a result of pile driving (less than 0.1 inches). Boring SI-01 (closest to the Marina). Boring SI-02 (middle of the dam). Boring SI-03  (northern end of the dam). Direction ‘A’ labeled on the graphs indicated a ‘down slope’ direction. Direction ‘B’ indicated lateral, left and right movement.
.
October 24, 2016 Test piles have been driven to begin bridge construction. (PDF) In addition to this testing, the county has installed seismometers on the properties at both ends of the dam as well as three sensors in the dam itself.
